Detailing

The basic Concept of the Waterfall-Method is that projects will define and freeze approved Requirements, then define and freeze approved design to meet those Requirements, then build the design, and then carry out acceptance tests to test that the Requirements are met. The entire System is in Principle, delivered in one “big bang” to the Client.

Notes

1. A project management lifecycle method, which was popular amongst Software-Engineers in the 1980”s.

2. The Waterfall-Method contrasts unfavorably with the Evolutionary-Project-Management method as it lacks feedback and learning mechanisms. There is no ability to adapt as more information becomes available, and as the external business environment changes. Importantly, there is no possibility of early delivery of any business benefit.
