Examples
Example:
X [ A Before [[B Starts] ]….
Y [ B After [[C Starts] ]…..
Meaning: X is true if A is true Before B (as a time event) begins.
So, if A only existed at or After the beginning of B then X would not be valid.
Similarly Y is valid only if B is true After even C starts.
Peace [ Rebels Cease Fire Before Government Troops]
Goal [Peace] Sign Treaty.
''Peace is true, and then we plan to sign a treaty,
if the rebels cease fire Before the government troops cease fire''.
Examples (using icons) :
X [A• => B*] “A Ends (•) Before B Starts”
Meaning X is Conditional upon A being (or completed) and thus true (A•) Before (=>) B starts (B*),
while . The “•” Means that A must be brought to completion Before B can start. This is different from A
X [A* => B*] informally X[A => B] is the same but not as precise.
Meaning X is Conditional upon A being started Before B starts , A does not have to be completed or true Before B starts.
Notes
Start says nothing about duration, whether it is still in Process, or completion of the event.
