Notes

1. Any applicable verification Processes may be used, including Specification-Quality-Control (SQC), Evolutionary feedback evaluation, PDSA Study Processes, testing, and user feedback.

2. Verification has 4 major elements (With thanks to Lawrence Day, Boeing):
Inspection: Confirmation that the Product has met its Requirements by visual examination. For example: Looking at a coding listing to verify that the Naming Convention Requirements have been implemented correctly.
Analysis: Confirmation that the Product has met its Requirements by performing an analysis of data about the Product to pass/fail criteria. For example: Meeting a bridge capacity weight Requirement by mathematically determining how much weight the bridge can hold without having to load it until it collapses.
Demonstration: Confirmation that the Product has met its Requirements by showing Functionality in a manner that does not have strict qualitative pass/fail criteria. For example: Demonstrating a user interface Concept without meeting specific timing or human factors Requirements.
Test (Formal): Confirmation that the Product has met its Requirements through technically rigorous testing to specific pass/fail criteria. In other words, manipulation of the Product to determine how it responds when compared quantified success data points. For example: Formal "testing" that requires such things as test scripts, Documented test results, and accompanying test reports to show that the Requirements are met.
